Industrial & CommercialFowler Martin has designed the HVAC and Electrical Services for many Industrial and Commercial Projects. Some of the more notable projects are listed below. In addition to these works we have surveyed many installations for condition, longevity and asset records.
Project:44-46 Eagle Street, London WC1. Client: The Folio Society. Works: In order to enhance their operational capabilities The Folio Society acquired this four storey block of showrooms. It was necessary to adapt the existing LPHW heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and provide new piped services including water filtration to drinking points, new lighting, general power, telephone, data, fire alarms and security systems. All works had to be designed and installed within a twelve week contract period. Duties: Site surveys to determine the extent of the existing services, feasibility studies, budget costings, full design, preparation of drawings/specification and monitoring the installation works. Costs: Electrical Services £133,000. HVAC Services£56,000. (Project 197) - 1994
Project : William Tuson House, London, E3 Client : London Borough of Tower Hamlets - Globe Town Neighbourhood Works : Total remodelling of a residential hostel into Offices (400 sq.m) and a Day Centre (320 sq.m) involving the installation of gas fired central heating system together with electric power and lighting on two separate accountable systems. The offices are provided with conventional steel panel radiator heating and point-of-use hot water generation. The lighting is designed for use with computer VDU terminals in accordance with the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992. Duties : Surveying, feasibility studies, preparation of design drawings/specification and inspection duties of the works in progress, Costs : HVAC services £66,000. Electrical Services £35,000. Project : London Borough of Havering, Area Housing Office, Collier Row, Romford, Essex. Client : VAT Watkins Limited (Design and Build Contractor). Works : Total refurbishment of the building including Ground Floor Public Areas and two floors of offices above. Duties : We were responsible for the design of the HVAC services including, new LPHW heating, air conditioning to internal Cashier's Area, special exhaust system for use in the event of a gas attack, general ventilation to internal areas and piped services. This involved surveying the premises, feasibility studies, budget costings and preparation of detailed drawings/specification to enable competitive tendering. Costs : £30,000 (Project 196) - 1994
Project : C.B. Dorey Limited, Harold Wood, Essex. Client : St. Ives Group PLC. Works : Total refurbishment/remodelling of the office accommodation involving the provision of a mechanical ventilation system incorporating heat recovery together with heating, water services, lighting, power and fire alarms. Duties : Surveying, feasibility studies, preparation of design drawings/specifications to Tender stage. Costs : HVAC Services £41,000 Electrical Services £22,000
Project : 33-37 Moreland Street, London EC1. Client : Olan Properties Limited. Works : This was a new six storey office block for a private developer requiring services for each floor to be self contained, with landlord's services to common areas. Services include, lighting, power, security, door entry, fire alarms, LPHW heating, domestic hot water generation, boosted cold water services, mains water and ventilation to internal toilet areas. The electrical design is required to incorporate capacity for occupants to install air conditioning at a future date. Duties : Scheme proposals, budget costings, design and preparation of tender drawings/specification. Cost : £180,000. (Project 047) - 1992
Project : 112-118, The Grove, Stratford, London E15. Client : The Tooley and Foster Partnership (Private Architects) for the London Borough of Newham. Works : Conversion of existing supermarket into an area housing office. Services provided included air conditioning (due to the deep plan configuration and high internal heat gains), LPHW heating, ventilation, hot water services, cold water services and gas services. Duties : Site surveys, feasibility studies, budget costings, design and preparation of drawings/specification and monitoring the installation works. Cost : £137,000 (Project 8815) - 1989
Project : Crane House, Lavington Street, London SE1. Client : St. Ives Group PLC. Works : Total refurbishment/remodelling of offices/printing works (approx. 5210 sq.m.) involving new ventilation systems, new heating circuits, alterations to existing air conditioning distribution, modifying comfort controls, replacement general/emergency lighting, power circuits, smoke alarms, emergency lighting, information transmission, etc. Duties : Surveying, feasibility studies, preparation of drawings/ specifications and inspecting the works during installation.
